Young Harris College is a private baccalaureate and master’s degree-granting institution located in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia. Assistant Professor of Biology

Young Harris College invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Biology position beginning August 1, 2019.  The applicant must (or will) possess a Ph.D. in a biological discipline and be willing to teach courses in General Biology for science majors and non-science majors, and upper level courses related to their specialty.  While the specific area of specialization is not yet decided, application from candidates with an expertise in areas related to the environmental sciences are especially encouraged.  Such candidates with training in the marine sciences and/or at the cellular/molecular level would be viewed favorably.  The successful applicant will also teach upper level courses in his/her sub discipline as part of the department’s 4-yr curriculum.  Although Young Harris College is primarily a teaching institution, the candidate should also have an interest in research and the capability to direct undergraduate students in guided research experiences.

Director of Institutional Research

Young Harris College seeks a fulltime Director of Institutional Research to perform the following duties:
  1. Provide relevant, timely, and accurate institutional information to the VP for Planning, President, executive team, and as appropriate, the campus community and external agencies.
  2. Serve as a member on those committees that require data or accountability/performance measures (e.g. Accreditation, Retention Team, Strategic Enrollment/Predictive modeling, Strategic Planning, Student Achievement, etc.).
  3. Design, conduct, and analyze institutional research projects across administrative, business and student services areas, with a specific focus on Enrollment, Retention, and Graduation trends. 
  4. Design dashboards to track retention and progression of students.
  5. Assist other units of the College by providing research for new and/or proposed projects of programs.
  6. Manage and direct the external reporting such as IPEDS, Delaware Study, national statistical surveys, questionnaires, and data exchanges in an accurate and timely fashion.
  7. Oversee administration of various survey instruments (National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Student Opinion Survey, Freshman Survey, Campus Quality Survey, etc.) and analyzes and reports the results of the surveys for benchmarking purposes and increase d institutional effectiveness.
  8. Prepares other reports and/or performs other duties as requested.

The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree.

ADMissions Counselor

Young Harris College seeks a fulltime Admissions Counselor.  This person is responsible for the recruitment and admissions of new students into undergraduate programs. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment travel, inquiry development, student interviewing, professional presentations, admissions records and correspondence. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Vice President for Enrollment Management, this position works regularly with the Marketing and Communications, Academic Advising, as well as staff members engaged in admissions, student records, and financial aid.  The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, and also possess excellent customer service skills, advanced problem solving skills, knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, guidelines and procedures related to Admissions.

Dean of the Division of Mathematics, Science and Technology

Young Harris College invites applications for Dean of the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Technology to begin January 2019. 
Providing strong service to students, the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Technology houses the Departments of Biology, Chemistry and Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Psychology with baccalaureate majors in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics and Psychology.  In addition, the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Technology serves local and regional communities through the Rollins Planetarium, the Hemlock Project, the Beekeeping Institute, and the Aquatic Research Lab.

Young Harris College has recently received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to offer master’s programs and to offer 50% or more of programs online, the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Technology is poised for growth to meet the needs of the College’s region.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

1. Custodians are responsible for cleaning of offices, classrooms, restrooms and hallways.

2. Checks and removes graffiti from classrooms, walls and other surfaces.

3. Informs the Housekeeping Supervisor of needed supplies and/or equipment.

4. Assists in trash and recycling management by collecting and discarding.

5. Performs any and all other duties as deemed necessary by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
